Electric Vehicles—DC EV charger

Electric Vehicles—AC EV charger

Electric Vehicles EV charger EMC

Major Updates to IEC 61581-23:232023:

1. Scope

Added requirements for bidirectional EV charger in the CHAdeMO system. Annex DD.

Charging equipment conforming to this document shall not be used to supply power to a single EV in the following situations:

– multiple vehicle connectors on the same charging device, or multiple charging devices.

2. Technical Changes

a. The structure has been reorganized in accordance with IEC 61851-1:2017;

b. The electrical safety requirements in Clauses 8 and 12 have been aligned with the requirements of IEC 62477-1 and are inspired by the hazard-based safety approach outlined in IEC 62368-1;

c. Test methods to verify compliance with the specified requirements have been added in most cases; general provisions for compliance testing are set forth in Clause 102;

d. Specific requirements and/or information have been added for the following functions: energy transfer via thermal management systems (101.2), bidirectional power transfer control (Appendix DD), multi-side B-isolated electric vehicle charging equipment (Appendix FF), and communication and energy transfer processes (Appendix GG);

e. Annex AA (System A), Annex BB (System B), and Annex CC (System C) have been updated to include the additions made in items b) and c). This document is limited to Systems A, B, and C;

f. The original Annexes DD and EE have been deleted. A new Annex EE has been added, which includes requirements for artificial test loads.

g. A new annex containing information on touch current and touch impulse current (Annex HH) has been added.

IEC 61851-24:2023 Edition Major Updates:

1. Scope

Requirements for bidirectional EV charger digital communication in the CHAdeMO system have been added. Appendix A.
