Attention to companies exporting lighting fixtures to Saudi Arabia !
New Standard for Lighting Fixtures from the Saudi Arabian Organization for Standards, Metrology, and Quality SASO SASO 2902:2018/AMD2:2023 has become mandatory as of March 31, 2025 ! Customs ports and factories must comply with this standard as of June 1, 2025 , while products already on the local market or in inventory must comply by June 1, 2026 . At the same time, the deadline for updates to energy efficiency labels for newly added compliant products and exempt products is May 31, 2025. SASO All energy efficiency certificates and labels (including exemption certificates) that do not comply with the new standards will be revoked, IECEE and the issuance of certificates will be suspended!
Three Major Categories for Energy Efficiency Label Upgrades
ARNOOL
1. Non-exempt products : Products that previously held exemption certificates but are no longer covered by the new standard’s exemption—such as linear LED luminaires and LED strips—must switch from an exemption application to a standard application;
2. Products Still Within the Exemption Scope: Products that remain within the exemption scope under the new standard must have their exemption certificate applications revised;
3. Amendment of Existing Certificates : For products that previously held energy efficiency certificates and labels but now fall within the scope of the new standard’s exemptions—such as wall lamps—the application must be changed to an exemption certificate application.
